One of our footballing heroes wandered into Bar Italia yesterday – the one and only Ray Wilkins.
Ray was a stalwart for England during the 1980s, and enjoyed success at various clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Milan, Queens Park Rangers, and Rangers.
He is currently a pundit for Sky TV – as his Gary Neville who also popped into see us yesterday, which pleased our Dini no end, what with him being a Man Utd season ticket holder

The lovely Jay Kay of Jamoriquai popped in to pick up his Bar Italia Loyalty Card last week in this little A to B motor, apparently the Reliant Robin was in the garage
Now, our Barista Dini loves a jam jar so was suitably impressed.
He was asked nicely by Frank Warren to park his Bentley last week and even though there were plenty of parking spaces available nearby, Dini was gone a long while ‘couldn’t find one anywhere’ he said.
We believe you mate, truly we do…

We have introduced a loyalty card scheme, (see the tattered, well used one below) which has proven to be a great success.
Get nine stamps on your card and your tenth gets you a FREE hot drink of your choice
Just ask our Barista’s for yours next time you are in and get stamping!
CIAO!

Every year, Bar Italia stock their shelves with a plentiful supply of Panettone in various flavours and sizes.
Well, this year we have nearly sold out the entire stock as can be seen by the photo below taken yesterday morning.
Fear not though dear customer, we received a new supply yesterday afternoon, so everyone can relax, there will be panettone for Christmas!

Always a pleasure to welcome Martin Clunes to Bar Italia whenever he is in London.
He first became well known for his role as Gary in the the TV sitcom ‘Men Behaving Badly’ but we also know his work as Doctor Martin Ellingham in Doc Martin and reprising the role of Reggie Perrin,. not to mention working with that dog Churchill…Aaah yesssss!

Its Martin Clunes - Aaah Yesssssssss...
It’s been a great year for the sport of cycling in the UK, with Bradley Wiggins winning the 2012 Tour de France as well as gold in the London Olympics, along with many of his team mates in the Velodrome
This has raised the profile of the sport, resulting in many of us dusting off our bikes and getting out riding again.
Well, to get the right look, you need a Bar Italia cycling jersey!
Available both in the Bar and on-line it is priced at £45

Available in sizes: Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large
We have our own ‘pack of four’ postcards available in Bar Italia and also on our ‘on-line’ shop

Why not buy a pack and then send to the folks back home if you are on vacation, or simply keep them as a memonto of your time in the ‘naughty square mile’ of Soho
How many shall put you down for?

Pick a card, any card...

The Bar Italia key ring and bottle opener!
We often get requests to use the Bar as a location for filming, photo shoots and music videos
This week has been particularly busy on that front with both a fashion magazine and The National Football Museum filming here.
The highlight for the staff was having actress Vicky McLure, and actors Jonny Owen and Johnny Harris join them behind the counter for a photo taken by legendary photographer Gavin Watson.
The photo shoot proper will appear in a well know fashion/style magazine in March 2013

Vicky wins a Bafta…

Do you think she ate the cake?
The clothing company Warehouse recently used the Bar for a fashion shoot.
It’s fair to say the models were a big hit with the Barista’s, though judging by this photo of our Dini, somebody has stolen his lino,,,,
Do you reckon the Model ate the cake?

'This Mod walks into Bar Italia.....'
It was good to say hello to top comedian Ian Moore in Bar Italia on Friday.
Ian lives in France during the week and performs in the UK at the weekends
On Friday he was appearing at the legendary Comedy Club
Here he is performing at the same venue last year talking about his life in France and his love of the Mod culture
A regular face to be seen often sitting outside Bar Italia is world renowned ballet dancer Carlos Acosta.
Carlos is a principal dancer at the nearby Royal Ballet
He recently took part in the ‘Parkinson:Masterclass’ series on the Sky Arts channel an we can highly recommend the programme, if you missed the first time around, it is being repeated on Saturday 24th November

The Christmas decorations for 2012 are now up, we're ready!
We are getting into full Christmas mode in Bar Italia. The decorations are up, the panettone is stacked high up on the shelves along with plenty of branded Bar Italia products.
So, when you are next passing, why not pop in and say hello and grab yourself a slice of Italy right here in the middle of London, right here in the middle of SOHO!
We were delighted to welcome Antonio Carluccio to the Bar Italia last week where he took part in a bit of filming. He certainly drew a crowd when he sat outside, enjoying a plate of Spaghetti!
He was joined for a drink and a chat with our Antony, the current owner of the Bar
Carluccio was born in Salerno and worked as a wine expert for many years. He moved to the UK in 1975 and opened ‘Carluccios’ in 1991.
Today, Carluccio’s operates from over 57 UK locations. In addition the company has granted franchises over two territories: the first over Ireland with presently one location open in Dublin; the second over 6 countries in the Middle East including three locations presently open in Dubai.[5]
